Joe Taylor has been active in victim
rights issues since graduating from the University of Wisconsin
in 1990. He worked with physically and sexually abused and
neglected children in both clinical and educational settings
in Chicago, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin. After finishing
law school, he began assisting victim service organizations
in the St. Louis area, by helping with legal advice and
holding seminars for victim advocates. Eventually, he joined
the Board of Directors of Crime
Victim Advocacy Center of St. Louis (formerly Aid for
Victims of Crime, Inc.), which is the nation's oldest victim
service agency, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2002.
In 1999, Joe was elected Board President of Aid for Victims
of Crime and has since then been re-elected for an additional
term and continues to sit as the agency's second longest
board member.
In addition, Joe is a past-member
of the Board of Directors of the Missouri
Victim Assistance Network (MOVA) and at the time, was
the sole attorney on that Board.
Joe has conducted training seminars
for victim service providers throughout the State of Missouri
and has provided hundreds of hours of free service and legal
and technical advice to rape crisis centers, victim assistance
agencies and other service oriented organizations over the
past seven years.
Through Taylor & Taylor, Joe
has helped hundreds of victims of violent crimes across
the country and has presented appeals and argued cases on
behalf of victims in the Missouri appellate courts to advance
victim related issues. Joe is a member of MATA (Missouri
Association of Trial Attorneys), ATLA (Association of Trial
Lawyers of America) and the ATLA Inadequate Security Litigation
Group.
Joe lives in Ladue, Missouri with
his wife and three sons.
